Our little man is now two months old. It is unbelievable how fast time goes! During this past month, Jacob has met his family. We traveled to Iowa to meet all of his aunts, uncles, and cousins on Scott’s side of the family. We traveled to Detroit to meet everyone on my side of the family.
Jacob’s personality has started to come out during the last month. His face lights up with a bright smile and giggles when we play with him. He is doing a great job watching objects and loves his Baby Einstein Play Gym because of all the hanging objects and flashing lights. When we carry him up against our chest, Jacob does a great job holding his head up to look out passed our shoulder. But he hates tummy time and still struggles lifting his head off the ground. We will continue to practice this!
We have some concerns about his hearing. Jacob passed the hearing screen in the hospital after he was born. But now, he isn’t really reacting when we make a loud noise near him. He also won’t turn to look at us if we call out to him so we added this to the list of questions for our pediatrician.
Jacob’s 2-month doctor appointment went very well. He now weighs 11 lbs, 1 oz, which is 4 lbs gained over the last 6 weeks. As for Jacob’s height, he is now 22 ¾ inches, which is 2 ½ inches longer than last appointment. This puts him in the 36th percentile for weight and 45th percentile for height. As for Jacob’s hearing, the nurse practitioner conducted another hearing screening and he passed. So we will continue to watch Jacob’s progress and if there are further concerns, he will have to see a specialist.
Jacob’s sleep has been improving. Earlier in the month, Jacob was waking twice a night for feedings and now is down to only once a night. This is great for mommy!
Right after Jacob was born, everyone kept telling me to enjoy every moment with him because time goes by so fast. At the time, I didn’t really understand what they were talking about. Now, I do! He has been growing so fast and I will enjoy the last of my maternity leave with our little man.
