Jacob meets the Burchettes

Before Jacob was born, Scott and I thought it would be a better idea for us to travel up to Iowa with the baby. If you don't know, Scott has 5 brothers and sisters and a plethora of nieces and nephews. Needless to say, it was easier for the three of us to drive up rather than try to coordinate schedules for them all to come to St. Louis.

Jake and I picked up Scott at the office around 3pm on Friday. We drove for a little bit and then stopped to nurse Jacob, change his diaper, and grab some dinner for us. After about an hour pit stop, we hit the road again with no other stops. Jake did great and went almost 4 ½ hours straight, sleeping the whole time. We arrived in Dubuque, where Grandma Carol was anxiously waiting to meet her 10th grandchild. That’s right, our Little Jacob, makes lucky number 10 in the Burchette grandchildren.

On Saturday, Scott, Carol, and I headed out to look for cars for Carol. She is in the market for a new vehicle and we went browsing. After testing driving a couple, we headed over to Mike and Robin Reed’s house. Mike is the son of Scott’s foster sister and they basically grew up together. They have two little girls, Camille and Lydia, who are both too cute for words!! Mike turned 30 earlier in the week and Robin threw his a surprise birthday party. We hung out for a couple hours and left just in time before Jake started to get fussy.

On Sunday morning, all of Scott’s brothers and sisters came up and we went to Mass. It was a memorial mass for Scott’s dad. It has been one-year since Ron’s death and after church, the whole family went out to breakfast. (When I say the whole family, it was about 30 of us!) After breakfast, we all went back to Carol’s house.

Jacob was handed off to everyone and I think he enjoyed all the cuddles and kisses. He especially loved being held all day long. It was great to see everyone and we’ll see you all again very soon!
