The second part of our trip we stayed in Maryland. This is because we were heading out to Gettysburg in the morning. After a relaxing evening of catching up on emails, we woke up and headed out to Gettysburg, PA. The town is so cute with little shops and restaurants. It is a very small town that caters to the tourists. We hired a guide that drove us around and explained to us the events of the battle. It was very interesting to learn the strategy of the Union and Confederate soldiers. Spending 3 hours getting in and out of the car looking at the various landmarks, we were ready for some lunch. When we arrived back at the hotel, no one really felt
like doing anything so the four of us ending up buying a movie on pay-per-view. (Mr. Brooks to be exact. It was a good movie, but if anyone doesn’t like scary movies, I suggest watching this with someone else.)For dinner, we took the subway back into downtown DC to meet one of Scott’s relatives. Actually, it was the daughter of one of
Scott’s foster sisters. We met up with Michelle, her husband, Matt, and their two daughters, Leah and Zoey. Dinner was a great French restaurant that was right next to our first hotel so we were familiar with the area.On our last day, we woke up and packed up the car. Since our flight didn’t leave until 7PM, we headed back to the Holocaust Museum to finish looking at the exhibit. We spent almost 4 hours walking through it and then headed to Olley’s Trolley for lunch. This place was a dive that we walked by everyday and everyday Scott begged us to go in for lunch. So we made him happy and stopped in for lunch. It wasn’t as great as what we had in mind. On our walk back to the car, we stopped at the Washington Monument and White House to get some pictures. Since we didn't have much time,
we weren't able to get up close to the Lincoln Memorial or the Captial Building. We saw those on our first night (but forgot the camera...) Now, we headed back to the airport, returned the car, and sat at a bar. It was a sight to see for the four of us, sitting in a bar, with our laptops open checking emails from the couple days of work that we missed. Talk about workaholics.
It was a great vacation and we have decided to go to New York City in the spring
