Jake's morning started out like every morning, up at 5:30am, snuggle with Daddy, kiss Joey good morning, and then cuddle with mommy on the couch while watching some Sesame Street. Scott took Jake to daycare so that I could take Joey to the doctor's. It also gave me a chance to make Jake's birthday cupcakes and treats. They came home after naps and Scott set up the first of Jake's birthday presents: a Sandbox.
After running around in the backyard, we sat down for dinner. Jake immediately saw the cupcakes sitting on the counter and was so distracted. He didn't want anything to do with the food on his plate and all he wanted was a cake, cake, cake!!! Eventually, we made it through dinner. We sang "Happy Birthday" and enjoyed some cake and ice cream.
Jake then opened up a couple of other gifts: toy vacuum and radio. Jake loved the little radio that Scott listened to when we first moved inti the house. Jake would turn the volume up full blast and proceed to dance around the, then empty, living room. Ultimately, that radio died so Jake has his own "boom box" to play with. Now, the toy vacuum is because Jake ALWAYS wants to copy us when we are cleaning the house. This includes vacuuming. He will kick and scream when we don't let him. It drives both Scott and I crazy as that chore will take us twice as long b/c Jake wants to do it. We have to constantly yell at him and tell him no that we decided to buy Jake his own so that he can vacuum with us. Lastly, Jake got a new swing set. Now that we have a yard big enough for a swing set, we thought it would be great fit. We (when I say we, I mean Scott) will have to assemble it over the weekend.
It was tough to get Jake down for bed after opening his presents. We let him stay up an extra 30 minutes to play with his new toys. Let's just say that it was 30 minutes too much ;)
The past two years have been the most wonderful years. Scott and I have been blessed with such a smart, loving son. Jacob, you make each day brighter. Love you, kiddo!
Happy 2nd Birthday!
