5K and Apple Picking

I have been on and off this Couch to 5K running program several times. It always seems that I can get to a point where my endurance was picking up and then I would quit due to some reason or another. Back in June, Scott and I started prioritizing exercise into our daily routine. We finally got regular use out of our treadmill!!!

Knowing how I motivate myself, I signed us up for a 5K in the park near our house that was 8 weeks out. Proceeds for the run went to the local Catholic school, just two blocks from our house. That weekend is here… Perfect timing, too; my parents came down for an impromptu visit and babysat Jake while Scott and I went out to the park.

Scott finished in 28 minutes and I finished in 40 minutes. My time may not be the best, but I finished and that was a huge accomplishment for me since I never, ever considered myself as a runner! The sense of accomplishment was great!

Later than day, we went out to the Eckert’s Farms to pick some apples. My mom and dad filled up 2 huge bags of apples. They fell victim to the over-zealous nature of trying to fill the bags!! We came home and I backed a pie for us all as a treat for finishing the race. What a great day!!!!
