Our little guy had a temperature of 101.9 and since he was still under 3 months old, the nurse told us to take him to the ER to get checked out as a precaution. Mind you, this is at midnight...
They drew blood for lab tests to see if Jacob had a viral or bacterial infection. It broke my heart to hear him scream bloody murder when the pricked him. Labs came back without anything abnormal except that his white blood cell count was high. Therefore, they recommended a spinal tap. Broke my heart, again.
Well, after 6 hours in the ER, the doc gave him some Tylenol and antibiotics. Jacob slept most of the day and woke up with a smile. I guess he just needed to teach his mom and dad not to stress out too much.
This was his "boot." The veins in Jacob's hands collapsed after trying to get the IV in so they had to put it in his ankle.
