Our nursery is almost complete. Scott bought me our rocker for my birthday. All I have left to do is get the quilt that my mom made and purchase letters to Baby’s name to hang up on the wall. We do have names picked out, but Scott and I decided we are not sharing until he/she arrives. I have been receiving a lot of flack from friends because (1.) we aren’t going to find out the gender of the baby and (2.) we aren’t telling the names that we have selected. Well, my response to those select few: TOUGH COOKIES. When you have your baby or next baby or grandbaby, then you do whatever you want. This is our world and you are just visiting. Just Kidding! I love that you guys are so interested, but we would rather be surprised and introduce you to him/her when you meet him/her for the first time.
We had another doctor appointment on last Friday. Everything with the baby is looking good. Doc said that if the baby was to be born this week, he/she would weigh only 1.5 lbs. It amazes me that in the next 3 moths this kid is going to grow so fast. Baby’s heartbeat was 164 bpm so as the doctor said “It’s still a chic.” Tally for our bet:
Scott (girl) – 3
Melissa (boy) – 0
Scott and I signed up for a bunch of classes that hopefully will help answer all the questions we have from delivery to infant care. I tried to convince Scott to come with me to the breastfeeding class, but he wouldn’t have anything to do with it. Can you blame the man?
So what have we been up to lately? We did our part to stimulate the economy and bought a new vehicle. We traded in Scott’s Mitsubishi Galant and bought American. Had to! My dad’s employee discount is just too good to pass up. One Saturday morning, Scott and I woke up and headed to Starbucks to just hang out and read the news. We decided to go shop around at dealerships to see what they had in stock. About 6 hours later and one hell of an offer on our trade-in, we signed the paperwork. We have been talking and researching, but I didn’t expect us to drive it home that day. Since that weekend, work has us both running ragged. It is my busy time of year so I have been working pretty late hours and on the weekends. Scott is always busy at work, but he is the one keeping house and keeping me sane.
My birthday was last week. It was pretty uneventful due to my workload (see above). But I told myself that I wasn’t going to fire up the laptop that night and use the evening to just relax and catch up on my DVR shows. But Scott saved the day and we went out to dinner at a Japanese Restaurant that I love. My only complaint: I didn’t sleep very well that night. I am learning that when I eat a big dinner, I don’t sleep. I wake up at about 3AM and lay there until 5. I finally get back to sleep and the alarm goes off at 6AM. TERRIBLE.
That brings us to Valentine’s Day. No big plans in the works, just dinner and a movie. We needed to run errands that day so we were out and about. Scott wanted PF Chang’s for lunch so we stopped in there around 2PM… Who would have thought that PF Chang’s was the Valentines Day spot? It was ridiculous. By the time we sat to eat it was already 3 and we knew that any place we decided for dinner would be crazy. Therefore, change of plans – leftovers and Blockbuster. I know we sound boring, but after the last few weeks I have had at work, vegging out on my couch is a great night!
