When do you think UNI and MSU will ever play each other again in the town that we live in? Most likely, NEVER. Scott and I had to go watch our Alma Maters play against each other in the 2010 NCAA Sweet 16 here in St. Louis. We contemplated taking Jake along with us, but realized that we hav the later game and that he would never make it through two whole game.
So we found a baby-sitter and headed out the Edward Jones Dome on Friday evening. We rushed to get there, thinking that we would run into traffic. Surprisingly enough, traffic was light, parking was easy, and lines were short. We we got there Ohio State and Tennessee already tipped off, but the seats were not even full yet. The crowd was swimming in purple shirts though. By half way through the first half, Scott went down to the concession stands, only to learn that beer is not sold in NCAA events. I was not prepared for that... I am not a big drinker anymore, but certain things go well together - Peanut Butter & Jelly, Green & White (hehe), and Beer & Sporting Events. Oh well, we made due...
As soon as the first game finished, it seems as if Panther fans infiltrated the Buckeye and Vols fan section. The place was filled with UNI fans. They were loud and pumped up. The game was a close game throughout until the last 10 minutes when the Spartans started to pull away. It was great to watch a Spartan victory!! But sad to see the hearts of the Panther fans deflate. It was a good run for them and hopefully give them motivation to work hard for next year!
We didn't try to get tickets for the Sunday game against Tennessee as we knew our little kiddo wouldn't have liked sitting in the crammed seats for 2 hours. So the three of us headed out to Bdubs (Buffalo Wild Wings) to watch the Elite 8 game. Another Spartan victory and we are on our way to Indy for the Final Four!!
What a great weekend and ready for more basketball next weekend!!! GO GREEN!
